Name: Jersey’s Titanic Story

About: Discover the compelling stories of the Jersey men and women who sailed aboard the Titanic on its ill‑fated maiden voyage in 1912. Ten islanders were among the passengers and crew who left Southampton on 10 April, just days before the ‘unsinkable’ ship struck an iceberg and sank with the loss of around 1,500 lives. Jersey’s First and Second Class passengers – including celebrated fashion designer Lady Duff‑Gordon, Rosalie Bidois, maid to the wealthy Astor family, and young solo traveller Bertha Ilett- survived to recount the dramatic events of that night. For the Jersey crew members, however, the outcome was far more uncertain.

Name: Vraiqu’sie art exhibition

About: This captivating exhibition celebrates the island’s beloved vraic — the seaweed that drapes its shores in ribbons of green and gold. Through an imaginative blend of sculpture, costume, sound, song, movement, video, creative writing and treasures from the Jersey Heritage collections, the exhibition brings the age‑old tradition of vraicking to life.
Artists re‑envision the communal gathering of seaweed by conjuring horses and carts, swooping birds, scuttling crustaceans and the vraic itself, inviting visitors to explore the delicate reciprocity between people, wildlife and the ever‑shifting shoreline.
It’s an immersive, thought‑provoking celebration of the island’s past and present — and a reminder of the care and balance that bind us to the sea.

Name: Liberation 80: A Day To Remember

About: Step into a powerful retelling of Jersey’s Liberation story, brought to life through rare archive film and an extensive collection of historic photographs. Follow the Island’s journey from the tense final days of occupation to the joy and relief of 9 May 1945, when German forces finally surrendered and Force 135 arrived to restore safety and order.

As freedom returned, islanders emerged from years of restriction to rediscover their home, beginning the long process of rebuilding their lives. Families welcomed back civilians and servicemen carrying news—both hopeful and heartbreaking—of those who would never return.

The exhibition closes with reflections from the descendants of Occupation survivors, expressing the deep gratitude they feel for the freedom secured in 1945 and the future it made possible.
